Important Legal Disclaimer
This document provides general guidance only and does not constitute legal advice. EC® Cycling Club is an informal, volunteer-run community group. By joining any EC® activity, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and accept full personal responsibility for your participation.
Legal Status of EC® Cycling Club
EC® Cycling Club is not a company, not a registered ASBL, and not a legal entity of any kind.
It is an informal, volunteer-run cycling group organised by private individuals.
Because the Club has no legal personality, no organiser, volunteer, or associated brand is legally responsible for any accidents, injuries, damages, or losses that occur during EC® rides or activities.
The EC® trademark is licensed from Jefferies & Partners SRL exclusively for branding purposes.
Jefferies & Partners SRL has no legal, operational, or organisational responsibility for any EC® Cycling Club activities.
Volunteer-Based Organisation
All activities are organised entirely on a voluntary basis.
Organisers:
-
Are unpaid volunteers
-
Do not hold professional qualifications
-
Do not provide coaching, training, or supervision
-
Do not have a duty of care beyond that of any other private individual
By participating, you acknowledge that organisers are not liable for your safety.
Mandatory Personal Liability Insurance
To join any EC® Cycling Club ride, you must have your own personal liability insurance or third-party cycling insurance that covers:
-
Injury caused to yourself
-
Damage or injury you may cause to others
-
Damage to third-party property
-
Any claims arising from a cycling-related incident
You ride entirely at your own risk.
You accept full responsibility for ensuring your insurance is valid and sufficient.
EC® Cycling Club does not verify policies and is not responsible for uninsured participants.
Participation at Your Own Risk
Cycling involves inherent risks including falls, collisions, mechanical failures, weather conditions, and road hazards.
By joining any EC® ride, you explicitly agree that:
-
You participate entirely at your own risk
-
You are responsible for your own safety and conduct
-
You will obey Belgian road laws
-
You will ride in a predictable, safe manner
-
You accept full responsibility for any injuries or damages
-
You waive any right to make claims against organisers, volunteers, Jefferies & Partners, or the Club
No organiser or volunteer accepts liability for any injury, loss, or damage whatsoever.
WhatsApp Group Usage
The WhatsApp group exists only to coordinate voluntary rides.
By joining the group, you accept that:
-
Messages are informal
-
Rides are not supervised or professionally organised
-
WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies
-
You are responsible for all information you share
We reserve the right to remove individuals who behave unsafely or disrespectfully.
Equipment and Safety Requirements
All riders must have:
-
A roadworthy bicycle
-
A helmet (mandatory)
-
Lights if riding in low visibility
You are solely responsible for ensuring your equipment is safe and legal.
No Commercial Activity
EC® Cycling Club does not collect payments, membership fees, or donations.
All activities are free, voluntary, and community driven.
This further confirms the informal nature of the Club and protects organisers from liability associated with commercial operations.
Future ASBL Registration
EC® Cycling Club may register as an ASBL in the future.
Until that occurs, all activities remain informal and voluntary.
If registration occurs, these Terms & Conditions will be updated.

By accessing the EC® website, joining the WhatsApp group, or participating in any ride, you confirm that you:
-
Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions
-
Accept full personal responsibility for your safety and actions
-
Hold valid personal liability insurance
-
Waive any claim against organisers, volunteers, or Jefferies & Partners
-
Agree to participate entirely at your own risk
If you do not accept these Terms, do not participate in EC® Cycling Club activities.
